John Kelly Lodge
No. 8907

Bury, Heywood & District Province
Royal Antideluvian Order of Buffaloes

The John Kelly Lodge having been formed in 1957 in the Brittanic Hotel and later
moved to the Joiners Arms which was under the host of Billy Caldwell. On the colsure
and demolition of the Joiners the lodge moved to the Freemasons on 5th October 1986
ans has remainded at the venue to this day. Over the years it has seen many changes to
the downstairs bar area and also the upstairs function room which is used as the lodge room.

The Perseverance Lodge for a short period also used the Freemasons for their meetings
and also the now defunct Alte Volo Lodge, and is also presently used by the Hey Glade
of the International Order of Ladies Glades. The John Kelly lodge has held many lodge
functions in the Freemasons and several social functions including the annual childrens
party. Over the years we have initiated into our order a total of 7 landlords/managers
from the Freemasons, all of which have given the 'Kelly' the best of
service and attention for which we are most indebted. It is hoped by the members to
enjoy the set-up and facilities for many years to come and to continue our association with the Freemasons.
